The TTC - The better way???

So after sitting on the delayed TTC Subway this morning…. I thought I’d write about it!!!

I’ve taken the TTC since I was a little kid, and I’ll be honest nothing has really changed except for the constant price increases (thank you Mr. Union). I’m not expecting public transit to be fun, but at least not so many delays and it just STINKS on some of the buses. I rarely ride buses because they are so unpleasant, usually just the subway. The subway for the most part is usually quick and painless.

But has anyone ever wondered why if the population of Toronto is growing why the TTC isn’t??? They haven’t expanded their subway lines with the exception of the Sheppard route… nobody really uses that one. Why not create more lines and convince everyone that the TTC really is the better way. Imagine if there was a subway line that extended east-west on Queen or how about East to West on Eglinton or even north to South in the western part of the city.

Look at the Transit systems in Atlanta, Vancouver… so efficient. Vancouver they don’t need the subway person to sit in their booth all day long because it is a trust system (think about the savings-they might not even have to up rates every few months). Rather every time I pass by a booth late in the evening they are almost asleep on the job and most of them are doing pretty well $$$ (like those GM workers, we all know how that worked out)... what a good deal. Atlanta’s Subway picks you up right at the airport – so you don’t need to sit in gridlock for hours.

And the city goes on about making Toronto a greener place… but the commuter TTC lots all over the city are now charging premium $$$ to use TTC parking and I’m sure that most of those people aren’t using the lots any longer but rather driving downtown since their costs have essentially doubled. So if I’m understanding this correctly the city is actually encouraging people to drive downtown or maybe they just don’t want people downtown to begin with.

and how about those uncomfy bucket seats-love em. That is all for today!!!

Construction workers hard at work!

What are these guys up to in this picture???

So I'm walking downtown and am looking around.... across from the new Trump Tower. And spotted these construction workers hard at work. I've noticed they only travel in packs and it takes about 10 people to make a decision. The picture I took is actually similar to the one below...

LOVE IT!!

Tiananmen square 20th Anniversary

http://wordonthestreetto.blogspot.com/

So today is the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre. In which the government turned the army against their own people because they were protesting/expressing their opinion in public. Many people were killed.

Something like this really puts things into perspective on how lucky we really are... we have freedom. Yes it has taken a lot of time to finally get to this place but we have freedom to do what we want, say what we want... something we shouldn't take for granted especially in this day and age when our voices/opinion/ thoughts are more important then ever.

Something to think about I guess!

On another note, have you seen Barack in action lately? This guy is just incredible... Nope I hate his economic team but the other things this guy is accomplishing and will continue to do are truly remarkable. I'm really hoping they implement a new health care plan and I have a feeling that they are trying to do it in a hurry before things get uglier down the road and they don't have a social safety net with all the baby boomers aging. Not only that- I'm so impressed that he is trying to clean up the US's tarnished image globally- particularly in the middle east. FYI the Jack Layton was in the US to discuss our health care system. Here is the video of Barack...

I've always thought that he is the right president at the right time... and the issues that he is dealing with are more global issues then domestic.

Anyways a couple cool links are below...
