The TTC - The better way???

So after sitting on the delayed TTC Subway this morning…. I thought I’d write about it!!!

I’ve taken the TTC since I was a little kid, and I’ll be honest nothing has really changed except for the constant price increases (thank you Mr. Union). I’m not expecting public transit to be fun, but at least not so many delays and it just STINKS on some of the buses. I rarely ride buses because they are so unpleasant, usually just the subway. The subway for the most part is usually quick and painless.

But has anyone ever wondered why if the population of Toronto is growing why the TTC isn’t??? They haven’t expanded their subway lines with the exception of the Sheppard route… nobody really uses that one. Why not create more lines and convince everyone that the TTC really is the better way. Imagine if there was a subway line that extended east-west on Queen or how about East to West on Eglinton or even north to South in the western part of the city.

Look at the Transit systems in Atlanta, Vancouver… so efficient. Vancouver they don’t need the subway person to sit in their booth all day long because it is a trust system (think about the savings-they might not even have to up rates every few months). Rather every time I pass by a booth late in the evening they are almost asleep on the job and most of them are doing pretty well $$$ (like those GM workers, we all know how that worked out)... what a good deal. Atlanta’s Subway picks you up right at the airport – so you don’t need to sit in gridlock for hours.

And the city goes on about making Toronto a greener place… but the commuter TTC lots all over the city are now charging premium $$$ to use TTC parking and I’m sure that most of those people aren’t using the lots any longer but rather driving downtown since their costs have essentially doubled. So if I’m understanding this correctly the city is actually encouraging people to drive downtown or maybe they just don’t want people downtown to begin with.

and how about those uncomfy bucket seats-love em. That is all for today!!!
